Sending More Children to School

Behind the glamorous tourism in Bali, there is a life that has moved slowly since the old days - it has never changed. Moreover, the people of a remote village in the upper Batur Caldera rim have never seen the outside world. Once upon time, a portrait of their life was seen to outsiders, and a doubtful question arose, "Is it in Bali?", "If yes, when was it?" and many more doubtful questions came to my ears.

For us who had already lived with them, experiencing the simple life with them, even for only a short moment, words are no more important. There is only a single thought, "The things that we could do for them, share more life, share the smile!".

For the children living in Blandingan village and villages dotted around Mount Batur Caldera – Kintamani, their lives are totally different to their fellow children living in other urban or touristy parts of Bali. While other children their age could be experiencing complete education facilities, sufficient nutrition, playing with modern toys, eating fast-food, going the shopping mall, going to beauty salon every month, in contrast, the children around Mount Batur Caldera are just spending their days doing the same routine. They have to help their parents to find additional subsistence, they work in the fields, they play with very simple toys (which sometimes cannot be considered as proper toys for children), or they sell snacks around the village.

Since that touching moment, the only thing that we dream is, "What we should do to help them so that they have a chance to see the outside world as other children do, to give them a better experience of life, access to knowledge, and reach for a better future". We do hope we can make their dreams come true - with us and you - then leave the trace of our sweat together!
